When we wake up it is starting to rain, so we revise our plan for the day and take our time getting dressed. By the time we are ready to walk to breakfast it has quit!! Life is good! And we've been so very lucky with the weather all along.

We're out of singles to leave for the housekeeping staff, so we left chocolate! |
We keep trying new breakfast items and today it is French Toast Kabobs with fresh fruit. I also get a banana (a whole one sliced up!) and Marilyn gets bacon. When the platters arrive I can barely conceive of finishing the whole thing! And I'm ashamed to admit that I do!!

The clouds are dropping |
Marilyn needs a Springbok Rugby team t-shirt for her grandson so we go to an actual mall. It's unspeakably huge, but is still a consumer museum with all the stores in which I never shop. But there are also some that carry actual African handicrafts, like Out of Africa, so my wallet doesn't quite escape unscathed.

I'm such a sucker for mountains!! |
We've decided to go to the other little wine region that Guy recommended when we were at Stellenbosch. It's called Franschhoek and it has both French and Dutch influences. The main road into town is basically littered with wineries and vineyards! We think we've had enough wine and just want to see the town. It has some cute little shops that we visit, and lots of cafes and bistros. We find one with tables out in the sun, and good wifi, and an intriguing menu. Marilyn just wants coffee and an apple dessert. I want food! They have a hot beverage called "rooibos latte"! They steep the tea leaves and then add steamed milk and honey. It's so delicious! And I have a 200 gram hamburger. You know, here in the States we aren't very conversant with the metric system. Never order a burger that big!! And it comes with fries! Jodine is our waitress and she is cute, charming, and helpful.

We sit at the table and contact our friends and family at home. For those in other parts of the country, the Tampa Bay Area is battening down the hatches for Hurricane Ian. He may be anywhere from a Cat 2 to a Cat 4 when he reaches us sometime Tuesday or Wednesday, or maybe Thursday. And we're not home to do any of the prep work. My angel sons are going to board up all my windows this evening, and there are quite a few. And my unbelievable next-door neighbor, Megan, and her tribe, are taking in all my outdoor potential missiles. I hate that I'm having to impose on everyone; but what can I do? At least I had that big, dangerous tree removed a couple of weeks ago! I don't have to worry about it falling on Megan's house or mine! Now if only my other neighbor had taken his down...

Anyway, we've finished our treats and are ready to head home. The BB actually finds our way home for us and we arrive before dark! We played with our suitcases this morning but now we have more stuff! I'm pretty sure I'm okay. Marilyn may have to jettison something. We'll see.
Dinner is wine and yogurt, and maybe cheese and crackers later. We're both too beat to go out. And it's going to be an early night!
The mountains look wonderful. So many wineries that you pass them by????? Certainly the most up-scale Woolworths I've ever seen.
